Your First Visit

Your first orthodontic visit is an exciting step toward a healthier, more beautiful smile. Here is what you can expect when you visit Suffolk Braces for the first time.

What to Expect

During your first visit, Dr. Taylor will perform a thorough examination of your teeth, jaws, and facial profile. Diagnostic records — including digital X-rays, photographs, and digital impressions — may be taken to help develop your customized treatment plan.

Treatment Discussion

We will discuss your treatment options, expected timeline, and financial arrangements. We believe that informed patients make the best decisions about their care, so we encourage you to ask questions and share your goals.

Helping Children and Teens Feel at Ease

If your child is the patient, we want the visit to feel welcoming rather than stressful. Our team talks with children directly, explains each step, and lets them ask questions. Parents are encouraged to share any concerns about their child's teeth, habits, or comfort, and we will take them seriously. Teens are welcome to take an active role in the conversation, which often helps them feel more invested in their treatment. Adults can expect the same respectful, unhurried attention. You do not need to do anything special to prepare other than to brush your teeth and arrive a few minutes early. We see patients at both of our Suffolk, VA offices, Monday through Thursday and Friday mornings. At the end of the appointment, you will leave knowing what we found, what we recommend, and what comes next.

What to Bring

Please bring your dental insurance card (if applicable), a completed new patient form, and a list of any questions you may have. If you are a minor, a parent or guardian must be present at the consultation.

Why Preparation Makes Your Visit Better

Being prepared for your first visit ensures we can maximize our time together. When you arrive with completed forms and a list of questions, Dr. Taylor can focus on evaluating your needs and discussing the best path forward — getting you started on your smile journey faster.
