When You Arrive

When you arrive to our office for your first visit, our friendly front desk team will ask you to fill out our new patient paperwork. This packet will ask for information regarding your health history, current medications, expectations, and more. This will help us become better acquainted with you. If you prefer, you can fill out the forms ahead of time and bring them with you to your appointment.

What to Bring with You

At Smile Suffolk Braces, we accept several insurance plans. It is important that you bring your insurance card and any pertinent information with you to our office. Our team of financial experts will fill out any necessary paperwork for you and check your benefits.

It is also helpful to bring any existing dental records with you to your first visit. Any information that can help our doctors understand your dental history better will be invaluable. Even though we may take our own x-rays when you arrive, bring previous radiographs as well. This way, we can compare them to see if there have been any significant changes since your last dental visit.

Your Initial Consultation

Once you have completed all necessary paperwork, one of our friendly team members will escort you to a consultation room. There, you will get to know your orthodontist and discuss your treatment goals. X-rays, photos, impressions, and other diagnostic information will be gathered. After assessing your teeth, gums, jaw joints, and other oral maxillofacial structures, your doctor will be able to make a recommendation based on your unique situation.

Our Joint Discussion About Your Case

After the information has been gathered, the doctor will discuss potential treatment options with you, step-by-step. At Suffolk Braces, we believe patient education is valuable. Therefore, we can tell you what likely caused the issue in the first place, and explain why certain treatments are best to address the problem. During this time, you will be presented with a clinical diagnosis, detailed treatment outline, and estimated fees and timeline.

Your first orthodontic visit is an excellent time to ask your doctor any questions you have regarding the treatment process. Here are a few recommendations of things to ask during your appointment:
