Children & Teen Orthodontics
Although many children do not begin orthodontic treatment until later, it is important to have an orthodontic evaluation by the age of seven. In fact, this guideline is recommended by the American Association of Orthodontists. In the event that early problems are detected, they are much easier to address when treated during the developmental years. If your child does end up requiring early treatment, it will help make his or her future treatment more predictable, successful, and less invasive. Learn more about children’s orthodontics here.
Adult Treatment
Orthodontic treatment isn’t just for kids. As we learn more about how the alignment of the teeth can affect function and oral health, adult orthodontic treatment is becoming much more prevalent. Did you know that adults who undergo braces, Invisalign®, or other orthodontic treatments significantly decrease their risk for tooth decay, gum disease, bone atrophy, tooth erosion, and temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorder? We can help you achieve optimal oral health, and make your smile look amazing in the process!
Braces
At Suffolk Braces, we offer both traditional metal braces and clear ceramic braces. Both of these options utilize bands, brackets, and archwires to gently and effectively straighten the teeth. While metal is the most common option, many of our teen and adult patients choose ceramic, since it offers a more discreet solution. No matter what your personal goals are, our doctors can help you determine an option that will work for you.
Invisalign®
Exceedingly popular among our adult patients, we offer the Invisalign system. This treatment method strategically moves your teeth using a series of removable, clear, thermoplastic trays. These custom aligners are digitally crafted by our dental lab for unparalleled precision. As you move through treatment, you will change out your aligners for a new set approximately every two weeks. Because the trays are virtually invisible, no one will notice you are undergoing orthodontic treatment.
Invisalign® Teen
Many of our teen patients want a discreet teeth-straightening option as well. We offer Invisalign Teen, which is similar to its traditional counterpart. Because we understand that life as a teenager can be busy and hectic at times, this treatment option includes up to six aligner replacements, just in case. Additionally, there are tiny blue indicator dots that fade over time, letting the patient and the doctor know whether or not the trays are being worn enough.
Retainers and Retention
No matter what type of orthodontic appliance you choose, you will require a retainer once treatment is complete. This is extremely important, because the teeth can move back into their original positions if retention is not a priority. There are several types of retainers to choose from, and we can help you determine which type will be most beneficial for your specific needs and lifestyle.
Orthognathic Surgery
If your orthodontic problems stem from a skeletal issue, we can employ orthognathic surgery to correct your bite. If this type of treatment is recommended for you, it will be performed by an oral and maxillofacial specialist (OMS). Our doctors at Suffolk Braces work closely alongside a skilled oral surgeon in the area to provide our patients with the utmost in comprehensive care.
